Seminar on Thinking & Thriving during Turbulent Times- A Great Success

We had a very successful session on “Thinking & Thriving during Turbulent Times’, presented by our Founder/ President Dato Ghazi Sheikh Ramli. Over 100 participants attend this unique and timely seminar on 19th March 2009 at Menara MATRADE organized by Innovation ( Malaysia ) Sdn. Bhd., in collaboration with MACRI.
Participants came from diverse backgrounds, representing government ministries, government agencies, the private sector, NGOs, and universities. Also we had a strong delegation from Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation headed by Datin Nur Wahidah.

Dato’ Ghazi evoked a quote by Bill Gates, who said to the effect that whenever there is an economic downturn, there will be an innovation upturn. He went on to showcase many interesting examples of how creativity and innovation have been employed as an amazing tool to help achieve progress and prosperity.

Our President pointed out that innovation can be realized not only in Products, but also in Processes, in Services and Systems, and also in Methods and Models. These six areas of application of innovation are neatly canned in Dato’ Ghazi’s favourite acronym ‘2PSM’, which also stands for ‘to Produce Super Malaysians’. And MACRI has been the vehicle through which the President endeavours to produce super Malaysians.

MACRI’s tagline ‘Empowering Simple Idea’ underscores this noble and now relevant aspiration. As an activist and catalyst for creativity and innovation in the country, Dato’ Ghazi has earned the reputation as the nation’s foremost ‘Innovation Evangelist’, in lieu of his tireless efforts over many years to spread the message of creativity and innovation.

The seminar started with a light mind-opening teaser by Mr. Lee Yee Dian, General Manager of Innovation Malaysia, and ended with a lively Q&A session. In between, the participants, ranging from college students to CEOs, from musicians to managers, seemed very connected with Dato’ Ghazi’s passionate plea to everyone to be creative and innovative.
