Let’s Celebrate “Malaysia Innovative 2010”
Message from Dato Ghazi Sheikh Ramli, Founder President.

I must congratulate the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI) for having our Prime Minister to officially declare 2010 as the year of creativity and innovation and graciously launching “Malaysia Innovative 2010” on Wednesday 27th January 2010 at Putrajaya Internatioanl Convention Centre (PICC). The Prime Minister’s speech at the grand launching ceremony at Putrajaya International Convention Center was indeed very inspiring. It reinforces our commitment to propagate the spirit of creativity and innovation at all strata of the society.

The launch of “Malaysia Innovative 2010” is a very significant milestone. It augers well for all innovators, creative thinkers and in particular MACRI which was established to build an environment that fully engages in positive change and a culture rich in creativity and innovation. As the most relevant organization in the forefront of innovation, MACRI will be playing a key role in the events lined up by MOSTI throughout the year and throughout the nation.

Great innovations occur when an ecosystem is developed with many collaborators and partners. Therefore in the spirit “Malaysia Innovative 2010” I call upon all members, friends and partners of MACRI to pull in our resources and contribute towards making a significant impact this year.

To begin with, I would like to challenge you to think about our flagship event, the 3rd Creativity & Innovation Week in April 2010. In 2008 we were the first in Malaysia to have celebrated this event along with 50 other countries. Now its has gained widespread interest among corporate organizations and government agencies. Continuing from last year’s focus on Bamboo, the theme for this year would be “Bamboo: The Iconic Material for Green Technology and Sustainability”. We are in the midst of finalizing the event and your ideas would be most welcome. Sustainability and green technology being the main subject matters that are strongly championed by our Government, should also be the key focus of MACRI. The whole world is racing towards finding better solutions for our ecosystem, environment and energy. MACRI should be assertive and capitalize on the vast potentials by levering our collective ideas, resources and expertise.

I have been following our MACRI Forum closely, and to date the most relevant thread which I believe can contribute positively towards the concept of open innovation is the recent postings on “Energy from Water” I see great potential in this subject and would like to call upon those with interest and expertise to continue this discussion on energy. I strongly believe that innovation is about networking, collaboration and building new approaches that helps us increase the value to our members and partners. By doing so we should be able to come up with something extraordinary to stamp our mark on “Malaysia Innovative 2010”

Please keep the ideas flowing and let’s celebrate “Malaysia Innovative 2010” in the most meaningful manner. I look forward to your meaningful contributions.
